  • Regular price £21.00
Anua's Niacinamide 10 + TXA 4 Serum pairs 10% niacinamide with 4% tranexamic acid to fade the look of dark spots and post-blemish marks and even out skin tone. Several forms of hyaluronic acid keep skin hydrated at the same time, so it feels like a hydrating serum as well as a tone step. What it doesThis is a dark spot and uneven tone serum first: the 10% niacinamide and 4% tranexamic acid are the reason to choose it. Niacinamide helps even the look of tone, helps skin look less shiny and supports the skin barrier. Tranexamic acid targets the look of discolouration and the marks spots leave behind. Arbutin, alpha-arbutin and a vitamin C derivative back them up for extra brightness, while hyaluronic acid, panthenol and ceramide NP keep skin comfortable. Why we chose itIt works on uneven tone in several ways at once and still feels like a hydrating serum. We checked the box ourselves: no fragrance and no essential oils.

What it does

This is a dark spot and uneven tone serum first: the 10% niacinamide and 4% tranexamic acid are the reason to choose it.

Why we chose it

It works on uneven tone in several ways at once and still feels like a hydrating serum. We checked the box ourselves: no fragrance and no essential oils.

Best for

  • Dark spots and uneven skin tone
  • Marks left behind after breakouts
  • Dull skin that wants a brighter, glass-skin glow
  • Combination or oily skin that also wants balance
  • A morning and evening treatment step under sunscreen

Not ideal if

  • You have a nut allergy: it contains macadamia seed oil
  • You avoid acids: it contains betaine salicylate, a mild BHA-type ingredient
  • You already use a vitamin C serum: this contains a vitamin C derivative, so start one at a time

Key ingredients

  • Niacinamide 10%: tone, oil balance and barrier support
  • Tranexamic acid 4%: the look of dark spots and post-blemish marks
  • Arbutin and alpha-arbutin: brightening
  • 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, a vitamin C derivative: radiance
  • Hyaluronic acid in several forms, panthenol and ceramide NP: hydration and comfort

Texture and finish

A light serum that sinks in and layers easily under moisturiser and sunscreen.

Where it goes in your routine

After cleansing and toner, before moisturiser. Morning and evening. In the morning, always finish with sunscreen to protect your progress.

What to expect

Skin feels hydrated straight away. Brightness builds with daily use, while dark spots and marks fade gradually. Judge it over a steady stretch of daily use with sunscreen, not days.

  • After cleansing and toner, apply a few drops to face and neck and pat in gently, as Anua direct. Follow with moisturiser.
  • Anua suggest building up gradually: start once a day, then move to morning and evening once your skin is comfortable with it.
  • In the morning, always finish with sunscreen. Anua recommend SPF 30 or higher.
  • If you also use a vitamin C serum, an exfoliating acid or a retinoid, introduce this serum on its own first rather than starting them in the same week.
  • Patch test first if your skin is reactive. If it stings or feels irritated, pause and reintroduce more slowly.

Good to know

  • Contains macadamia seed oil: not for nut allergies
  • Contains betaine salicylate (a mild BHA-type ingredient) and a vitamin C derivative
  • No fragrance and no essential oils (checked on our box)

Is it for dark marks or for active breakouts?

For the marks. Niacinamide and tranexamic acid are there for the look of dark spots, post-blemish marks and uneven tone. It is not a spot treatment for active breakouts, and marks fade gradually with daily use and daily sunscreen.

Can sensitive skin use it?

It can, if you introduce it slowly. It has no fragrance and no essential oils, but it combines 10% niacinamide, 4% tranexamic acid, a vitamin C derivative and a small amount of betaine salicylate. Patch test first, start once a day and build up only if your skin stays comfortable.

I have a nut allergy. Can I use it?

No. It contains macadamia seed oil, so we would not recommend it if you have a nut allergy.

Can I use it with a vitamin C serum?

It already contains a vitamin C derivative (3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid), so you may not need a separate one. If you want to keep both, start one at a time so you can tell how your skin responds to each.

How is it different from the SKIN1004 Tone Brightening Capsule Ampoule?

Both use niacinamide and tranexamic acid, so choose one rather than layering both. Anua state the strengths (10% niacinamide, 4% tranexamic acid) and add arbutin and a mild BHA-type ingredient, so it is the more targeted choice for dark spots. The SKIN1004 ampoule does not state its percentages and has no exfoliating ingredient.

Does it feel sticky or pill under other products?

Anua describe it as a watery, non-greasy serum. Most of the reviews we checked describe it as quick to absorb and easy to layer; a few mention a slightly tacky feel until moisturiser goes on.
