Is this an exfoliating serum?

Partly. It contains betaine salicylate, a BHA-type exfoliant that Beauty of Joseon describe as gently exfoliating. They don't publish how much is in it, so treat it as a daily smoothing and hydrating serum with an exfoliating element, not a dedicated BHA treatment.

Can I use it with retinol, vitamin C or other acids?

It depends on your skin. It already contains a BHA-type exfoliant, so if your skin is easily irritated, don't use it in the same routine as another exfoliating acid or a retinoid. If your skin is used to actives, using them at different times of day is the simpler approach.

Can sensitive skin use it?

It depends on what your skin reacts to. It contains propolis (a bee product), betaine salicylate and tea tree extract, and some sensitive skin does not get on with these. Beauty of Joseon recommend a patch test for sensitive skin, and so do we.

I have a nut or bee allergy. Is it suitable?

We would not choose it for you. Propolis is collected by bees, and the formula contains tamanu seed oil, which is pressed from the tamanu nut. Propolis also means it is not vegan.

Will it fade dark spots?

It isn't a dark-spot treatment. Beauty of Joseon describe a smoother, brighter-looking glow, and that is what to expect. For dark spots, choose a dedicated serum and keep this one as your hydrating and smoothing step.
