Medicube Deep Vita C Capsule Cream (55g)

  • Regular price £22.90
Medicube Deep Vita C Capsule Cream is a brightening moisturiser made with 50% sea buckthorn water, 5% niacinamide, several forms of vitamin C and alpha-arbutin. It helps dull, uneven-looking skin look brighter and more even while keeping it hydrated. The jar holds golden vitamin capsules and a clear gel that you mix to suit your skin. What it doesThis is a brightening moisturiser first, not a vitamin C treatment. Medicube state the niacinamide (5%) and the sea buckthorn water (50%), but not how much vitamin C it contains, so we see the vitamin C (ascorbic acid and several derivatives) and alpha-arbutin as working alongside the niacinamide for dullness and the look of dark spots. Medicube say the capsules keep the vitamin C fresh until you mix them.

What it does

This is a brightening moisturiser first, not a vitamin C treatment.

Why we chose it

It puts brightening into the moisturiser step, for anyone who does not want another serum, and you control the texture yourself.

Best for

  • Dull or tired-looking skin
  • Uneven tone and the look of dark spots
  • Normal, combination or dehydrated skin
  • A brightening moisturiser morning and evening, under sunscreen

Not ideal if

  • You avoid fragrance: fragrance is listed in the ingredients
  • You avoid exfoliating acids: it contains gluconolactone, a mild PHA
  • You already use a strong vitamin C serum: introduce one at a time rather than doubling up

Key ingredients

  • Sea buckthorn water (50%): a hydrating, vitamin-rich base
  • Niacinamide (5%): the stated active, for the look of uneven tone
  • Vitamin C (ascorbic acid and derivatives): brightness
  • Alpha-arbutin: the look of dark spots
  • Ferulic acid, vitamin E and ubiquinone: antioxidant support

Texture and finish

A dual texture: golden capsule cream beside a clear gel. Mixed together it feels light and spreads easily.

Where it goes in your routine

As your moisturiser, after serum, morning and evening. Mix capsule and gel in your palm in the ratio you like, then smooth over face and neck. In the morning, always finish with sunscreen, such as Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun.

What to expect

Skin feels hydrated and looks fresher soon after applying. Brightness and a more even tone build gradually and depend on daily use and daily sunscreen.

Quick facts: 55 g · Niacinamide 5%, vitamin C · Contains fragrance · AM and PM · Medicube, Korean brand

  • Use it as your moisturiser, morning and evening, after serum, as Medicube direct.
  • Mix the capsule cream and clear gel in your palm, then smooth over face and neck.
  • Medicube suggest more gel for a lighter feel and more capsule for extra hydration, so you can shift the ratio with the seasons or your skin.
  • In the morning, always finish with sunscreen.
  • If you already use a vitamin C serum or an exfoliating acid, introduce this on its own first rather than starting them together.
  • Patch test first: it contains fragrance and gluconolactone, a mild PHA.

Good to know

  • Contains fragrance
  • Contains gluconolactone, a mild PHA exfoliating acid
  • No retinoid
  • Wear sunscreen daily with brightening products

Is this a strong vitamin C cream?

Not in the treatment sense. Medicube state 5% niacinamide and 50% sea buckthorn water but do not state the vitamin C amount. We see it as a brightening moisturiser that adds niacinamide, vitamin C and alpha-arbutin to the step you already do, rather than a replacement for a dedicated vitamin C serum.

What are the golden capsules, and do I have to mix them?

Medicube describe the capsules as holding vitamin C, kept separate so it stays fresh until you blend it with the gel. Mix the two in your palm each time. More gel gives a lighter feel, more capsule gives more hydration.

Can sensitive skin use it?

It depends on what your skin reacts to. It contains fragrance and a mild PHA (gluconolactone), so we do not list it as a default choice for sensitive skin. If fragrance is not a trigger for you, patch test first and introduce it on its own.

Can oily skin use it?

Often, yes. Medicube list oily skin, and because you choose the ratio, using more of the clear gel keeps it lighter. If your skin is very oily and you prefer a gel-only moisturiser, you may find even the mixed texture more than you need.

Can I use it with my vitamin C serum?

You can, but you may not need both. If you want to keep your serum, introduce this cream on its own first so you can tell how your skin responds, then add the serum back.
