This serum is wild—tiny spiky bits that genuinely prick but in a bearable way. My skin’s smoother and brighter within a few days, and my skincare layers soak in better. Just watch that tingling—I skip nights I’m using retinol. Apparently it is best to not overdo it so I am using it once every 2 weeks atm

VT Cosmetics Reedle Shot 100 is a 50 ml first-step essence with VT's CICA REEDLE, fine silica particles processed with centella, plus niacinamide, adenosine, hyaluronic acid, propolis and amino acids. It is VT's everyday level, made to smooth the look of rough texture and uneven tone.
What it does
The CICA REEDLE particles are tiny spicule-like pieces of silica, and you are meant to feel them: a prickling or tingling as you work the essence in is how this product behaves, not a sign that something is wrong. It is a cosmetic essence, not a microneedling treatment. VT say they soften rough skin and help later skincare absorb. Niacinamide helps even the look of tone, and centella and amino acids help skin feel comfortable afterwards; adenosine is in there too, but we choose this essence for texture, not for lines.
Why we chose it
The middle of the range: more noticeable than VT Mild Reedle Shot 50, yet VT say it can be used every day, unlike the stronger Reedle Shot 300.
Best for
- Rough or uneven-feeling texture
- Dull skin that wants a smoother, glowier finish
- Enlarged-looking pores and marks left after breakouts
Not ideal if
- Your skin is sensitive or reactive, or you are new to Reedle Shot: the tingle is part of how this one works, so start with the milder Mild Reedle Shot 50
- You have a nut allergy or avoid bee products: it contains macadamia seed oil and propolis
- Your skin is broken or has just had a professional treatment such as a peel or laser: VT say not to use it then
Key ingredients
- CICA REEDLE (silica and centella extract): the tingling spicule-like particles
- Niacinamide: a more even-looking tone and barrier support
- Adenosine: a supporting ingredient for the look of fine lines
- Centella compounds and sodium hyaluronate: comfort and hydration
Texture and finish
A light essence that massages in and leaves a soft, non-greasy finish.
Where it goes in your routine
Evenings, as the first step on clean, bare skin; VT say it can be used daily. Apply a small amount, avoiding the eyes and lips, let it absorb, then moisturise. Wear sunscreen the next morning.
What to expect
A prickling feel is normal and fades. If it burns or leaves lasting redness, rinse it off and use it less often. Smoother-looking texture builds gradually with regular use.
Quick facts: 50 ml · Everyday Reedle level · Tingle is normal · PM · VT Cosmetics, made in Korea
- Use in the evening as the very first step on clean, bare skin; our box says to use it at the first step of your skincare.
- Apply a small amount with your fingers and work it over the face, avoiding the eyes and lips. A prickling or tingling feel is expected.
- Let it absorb, then continue with your routine and moisturiser.
- Do not use it with LED masks or devices, on broken skin, after a peel or laser, or with Reedle Shot 300 or 700.
- While you are getting used to it, keep retinoids and exfoliating acids to other evenings, so you can tell how your skin handles the tingle.
- Wear sunscreen the next day. Patch test first; if it burns or redness lasts, rinse it off.

Good to know
- Spicule-like silica particles cause a prickling or tingling feel
- Contains macadamia seed oil (nut-derived) and propolis (bee-derived). Not vegan
- No fragrance in the listed ingredients
- No retinoid and no exfoliating acids
Is the tingling normal?
Yes. The fine silica particles give a prickling or tingling feel as you apply it, and that fades. Burning, or redness that lasts, is not what you want: rinse it off with water and use it less often, or stop if it keeps happening.
Is this microneedling?
No. It is a cosmetic essence with fine spicule-like particles that you can feel on the skin. It is not a substitute for a professional treatment, and we don't sell it as one.
Can sensitive skin use it?
We don't recommend it as a starting point for sensitive or reactive skin. The prickle is the whole point of this product, so it is not a calm step. If you want to try Reedle Shot, start with the milder Mild Reedle Shot 50 and patch test first.
Which Reedle Shot level should I choose?
Mild Reedle Shot 50 if you are new to the range or your skin reacts easily. Reedle Shot 100 if you want a more noticeable feel that VT say can be used every day. Reedle Shot 300 is stronger, and VT do not position it for daily use.
Can I use it every day?
VT say it can be used daily, and our box describes it as the first step of daily skincare. If the tingle feels like a lot at first, it is fine to use it less often while your skin gets used to it.
Does it contain nut or bee ingredients?
Yes. It contains macadamia seed oil (nut-derived) and propolis (bee-derived), so it is not suitable if you have a nut allergy or avoid bee products, and it is not vegan.
