  • Shake well before each use. The two layers separating in the bottle is normal.
  • Use straight after cleansing, morning and evening.
  • Press a few drops in with your hands, or wipe outward with a cotton pad, as Beauty of Joseon direct.
  • Add another layer only where skin feels dry; on an oily T-zone, one layer is usually enough.
  • Follow with serum and moisturiser, even if your skin is oily, then sunscreen in the morning.
  • Keep it away from your eyes, and stop using it if your skin feels uncomfortable, as the box advises.

Why has my bottle separated into two layers?

That is how it is made. One layer hydrates and the other is an oil-absorbing powder layer. Shake it before each use so you get both.

Will it dry out my skin?

It depends on your skin. For oily and combination skin it hydrates while softening shine. If your skin is dry all over with no oiliness, the powder layer is not doing much for you, and Haruharu Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner, which is purely hydrating, is the better choice.

Do I still need a moisturiser?

Yes. It hydrates and balances shine, but it is a toner. Follow it with a moisturiser suited to your skin, even if that is a light gel.

Does it exfoliate?

No. There is no AHA or BHA; the citric acid adjusts the pH. For an exfoliating toner, Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Toner is the one we would choose.

What is aluminium chlorohydrate doing in a toner?

It is an astringent salt that helps control sebum, part of what keeps the finish from looking greasy. If you prefer to avoid aluminium salts, this toner is not for you.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

It can be. Beauty of Joseon describe it as fragrance-free and alcohol-free, and it has no exfoliating acids. If your skin tends to sting with astringent or oil-control products, introduce it slowly.
